FOXTAIL CAFÉ
Onanole, Manitoba

The Foxtail Cafe, nestled between a knoll and the main highway into Riding Mountain National Park, comprises a 3-season outdoor kitchen, restaurant and a quaint indoor cafe. Part of a larger market-style development, diners sit opposite the trees in a long heavy timber framed hall complete with a wood-fired oven, and raw, robust steel counters and truss detailing. A stack-wood wall separates the two buildings, and brings the fuel for cooking into the space of eating and drinking. The rustic nature of the construction is echoed in the decor, as well as in the ingredients used in the food - natural, local, crafted with care.
